Palm Sunday

Cloaks spread, branches laid, hearts yearning Could this be the Messiah?
I remembered, and awaited
Oh, may it finally be

Hosannas of hope
Donning a donkey Procession of palms
Down the byway of Blessing

“Fear not O daughter of Zion Behold your King is coming” All of these years
All of these generations

A most triumphant entry

Yet, amidst the praise I’m wondering Could this really be He?...Wrestling... With whispers of “False teacher” Utterings of “Blasphemy”

This hungering hope and disquieting doubt Can I recognize this reckoning?
Face to face with fickle faith
Face to face with the One who came

Who is He to me?

With veiled face I know I’ve seen
A Miracle maker, Resurrector, Kingdom-preaching Nazarene He’s stretched out his hand; saw me, knew me and
beckoned me to believe

So cloak from my back and palm from a tree My heart this branch
This cloak my will
All prostrate before his feet

With joy and praise
I surrender my heart to say Blessed is He
King of Peace
Hosanna in the highest
